2024 Fall Soloist Gus Magee-Kenney

Cellist Gus Magee-Kenney, 17, is a senior at Sehome High School. He began his cello journey when he was 11 years old and has been taking lessons from Coral Marchant ever since. Gus has been a member of NSYS for the past 5 years, and has also participated in Bellingham Youth Chamber Players, WWU’s Chamber Days, and the Washington Music Educators Association Honors Orchestra Festival. Gus has been selected for the Washington All-State Symphony for the past two years, and he placed third in the 2024 Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest. When not practicing, Gus enjoys hiking, teaching students, traveling, and applying to colleges. At university, Gus hopes to study physics while continuing his music education through off-campus orchestras.
